The shots were crisp and accurate, but lacked his trademark power which had scored him so many stoppages in his prime years. And fans were quick to write off the Irishman, and don’t believe we will see him in the octagon again. One remarked: “Man looks dead and so tired. Its a wrap Conor.” Another agreed: “Slow, looks fatigued, old.” A fan also claimed: “He has made some terrible mistakes and now it is too late for him. His time as a championship fighter is over.” Others were more optimistic a comeback was on it’s way, with one writing: “He’s gassed. “Of course he can still fight… but for how long? Who can he beat. What part of it would he come back for?” he suggested. “We’re told by him that he doesn’t need the money, we can see that his time is occupied. A lot of fighters cling to the sport because they have nothing else to do. “He’s got a beating standing in front of him. We can go 155 [pounds], we can go 170, we can make up a weight class. “There’s not an athlete under contract with the Ultimate Fighting Champions, located in southern Nevada, that he can beat. “We’ve got a guy who can’t breathe for a full round. This is just a reality, there’s nothing to come back for. There’s no reason to come back.”
