Lionspeed GP will expand its presence in GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup, adding a second Bronze Cup-entered Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Initially, the German squad was only confirmed to have entered a single car when the full season, 41-car Sprint Cup entry list was released last month.
However, the team on Friday outlined plans to double up on its existing entry, which will see it run a two-car effort for the first time since it began operating without external support last year.
Both cars will make their first appearance at May’s second round at Zandvoort, as Bronze Cup entries will not be part of the Brands Hatch opener due to paddock space constraints.
Gabriel Rindone and Ricardo Feller, who will also form part of the team’s Endurance Cup lineup, will pilot the No. 80 Porsche while Bashar Mardini and Bastian Buus have been named as the driver pairing for the blue-liveried No. 89 sister car.
Buus moves over to the Sprint Cup operation after debuting with the team in the Endurance Cup last year.
The Dane was originally scheduled to make his DTM debut with Allied Racing this year, but was left on the sidelines after that program was canceled at late notice.
In addition to the Sprint Cup program, the 21-year-old will join Dinamic GT for June’s Nürburgring 24 and compete with Origine Motorsport in GTWC Asia.
