Davies must bounce back from defeat

Liam Davies will duck between the ropes on fight night with a professional boxing record detailing 16 wins against just one defeat. The Englishman made his professional debut with an impressive victory back in Birmingham in 2018 and has progressed through the ranks since then. He has already won respected titles, including the English bantamweight, WBC International, British super-bantamweight, European and the WBO International. 

Davies continued his progress when he became a recognised world champion, taking the vacant IBO super-bantamweight world title with a second-round TKO win over Erik Robles Ayala in Birmingham. It was a memorable night for the fighter, his team, and his army of fans, as Liam realised a lifelong dream. Becoming champion of the world is one thing; keeping hold of the title and defending it from all-comers is very different. Davies lost his hard-earned belt in his first defence.

The only defeat currently on Davies’ card came in his most recent start when going down on a split decision to Stoke’s Shabaz Masoud. Walker arrives unbeaten in 12

Kurt Walker boasts an unblemished fight record as a professional, winning each of his dozen outings. The Irishman made his professional bow with a first-round stoppage win at the Hydro in Glasgow just over three years ago. Those in attendance who witnessed the ferocious body shot that ended things quickly thought they’d seen the birth of a big-punching star at the lighter weights. But Kurt didn’t stop another opponent until his 11th outing.

Walker beat James Beech Jr in round seven at the Ulster Hall in Belfast, cutting his opponent above the eye. It was a punch-perfect performance and a real coming-of-age for Kurt, who proved he belonged in great company. He followed that up with a career-best win over the tough and experienced Leon Woodstock in his next outing, getting the nod in a majority decision. The scorecards at the end of that ten-round contest read 96-94, 97-93, and a 95-95 draw, allowing Kurt to edge it.

The Irishman is here on merit following two big wins and now gets an opportunity to test himself against a former world champion.
