The newly formed LAB Motorsport has taken over operations of Jean-Frederic Laberge and Kyle Marcelli’s Porsche 911 GT3 R, which is set for a full season campaign in GT World Challenge America powered by AWS.
Previously running under the Montreal Motorsport Group (MMG) banner, the Canadian squad has entrusted veteran team principal Eric Cote, of GT Racing, to prepare its Pro-Am class Porsche this season.
“We’ve put in the work over the off-season to ensure we hit the ground running at Sonoma,” said Laberge. “I’m thrilled to be back behind the wheel of the Porsche and to team up with Kyle. We have a strong package, and we’re ready to take on the competition.”
Marcelli added: “I’m excited to return to the SRO GT World Challenge America paddock.
“The grid this year is shaping up to be quite competitive. As a whole, our team is still young, but individually there is a lot of experience and success. We hope to build on that as we aim to be a championship contender.”
While having missed last year’s Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS, the team has confirmed plans to contest the season finale.
“We’ve assembled a strong team with a proven car and two top-tier Canadian drivers,” said Cote. “The preparation and testing have gone well and we’re eager to take on the competition in our debut season.”
The GT World Challenge America season kicks off this weekend at Sonoma Raceway.
