J. Robbins says Jawbox is over (again)

DC post-hardcore heroes Jawbox reunited in 2019 for their first tour since their 1997 breakup, and though guitarist Bill Barbot ended up parting ways with the band in 2021, they continued with more shows and eventually their first release in 26 years, The Revisionist, a three-song EP with new recordings of two Grippe songs and a Wire cover. They last performed at the inaugural Best Friends Forever festival in Las Vegas in 2024–which J. Robbins returns to this year to play a set of songs by his post-Jawbox band Burning Airlines–and it looks like that BFF set will be Jawbox’s last.

As Punk News points out, J. confirmed in an interview with Kyle Ryan’s Band Name Bureau newsletter that the band’s reunion has come to an end. No comment was provided, but Kyle wrote, “J. confirmed to me that the group is officially done.”

It was fun while it lasted, Jawbox. Here’s to hoping another reunion down the line isn’t out of the question.
