Roma, 16 marzo 2025 - Strage negli Stati Uniti per tempeste e tornado che hanno colpito e il Midwest e il sud del Paese. E' salito ad almeno 33 vittime il bilancio, secondo quanto riporta la Cnn. Nel complesso, sono sei gli Sati interessati dalle perturbazioni, con 12 morti in Missouri, otto in Kansas, tre in Arkansas, sei in Mississippi. Secondo il sito web Poweroutage, circa 250.000 case sono rimaste senza corrente elettrica sabato sera.

Venerdì il governatore del Missouri, Mike Kehoe, ha dichiarato lo stato di emergenza nello Stato in previsione dei prossimi tornado. Le foto diffuse dalle autorità mostrano case e magazzini devastati e camion ribaltati sulle strade. Nel vicino stato del Kansas, nel cuore del Paese, almeno otto persone sono morte in una serie di incidenti stradali che hanno coinvolto circa 50 veicoli, hanno riferito le forze dell'ordine. Una "violenta tempesta di sabbia" ha ridotto notevolmente la visibilità sulle strade, ha affermato la stessa fonte.

Più a sud, in Texas, le autorità locali hanno riferito che quattro persone sono morte sempre in incidenti stradali per la scarsa visibilità causata da tempeste di polvere e incendi. Queste condizioni meteorologiche hanno causato in particolare incidenti di notevole entità. Altri tornado, "potenzialmente violenti" secondo il National Weather Forecasting Service degli Stati Uniti, sono previsti in particolare in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama e Tennessee.
