Mercedes-AMG partner team Iron Lynx has revealed the three drivers that will steer its third AMG LMGT3 in the Le Mans 24 Hours this year.
The Italian-flagged team, which is running the first Mercedes-AMG program at La Sarthe since the 1999 edition of the race this year, will compete with works driver Luca Stolz and Australian father-son duo Stephen and Brenton Grove in its No. 63 invitational entry.
The team’s third Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 for the 93rd edition of the French classic adds to its pair of full-season FIA WEC LMGT3 cars that will take part. The additional car has been entered via an automatic invitation earned by winning the 2024 European Le Mans Series LMGT3 championship.
“We are excited to line up one additional car in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and we are proud to represent Mercedes-AMG in their return edition with an expanded program,” said Iron Lynx CEO Andrea Piccini. “Both Stephen and Brenton have a good amount of experience, and they are a valuable addition to the team. Luca is an outstanding driver. I used to be teammates with him in the past, and I know he is extremely talented and experienced. He is somebody that the team can truly rely on.”
The Groves bring a wealth of GT racing experience to the effort. The pair are regulars in SRO competition across Asia and Australia with their team — Grove Racing — and have six starts together in the Bathurst 12 Hour.
“To have the opportunity to compete in the biggest race in the world alongside my father and Luca is definitely my career highlight,” said Brenton Grove, who as well as his father will make his Le Mans debut in June. “I’ve watched the race since I was a little kid, so to experience the atmosphere and be in the race during its golden years is something truly special. I can’t wait for the challenge.”
The team’s full-season WEC trios, who competed together for the first time earlier this week in Qatar, complete its three-pronged attack in France. The No. 60 features Claudio Schiavoni, Matteo Cressoni and Matteo Cairoli, and No. 61, sees Christian Ried, Lin Hodenius and Maxime Martin share the wheel.
The first version of the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours entry list is set to be made public tomorrow.
