Injured Maple Leafs McCabe, Kampf ruled out vs. Blue Jackets

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have to continue their quest for the Atlantic Division title without two lineup staples for now.

Defenceman Jake McCabe and centre David Kampf will miss Saturday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, head coach coach Craig Berube told reporters on Friday.

Both players suffered injuries during the team’s Wednesday win over the Florida Panthers, subsequently missed practice and are being considered day-to-day, per Berube.

McCabe was hit into the boards with just under two minutes left in the game and did not play the final 1:10 as the Leafs attempted to hold on to a 3-2 lead.

It was unclear how Kampf suffered his injury.

Kampf, 30, has recorded five goals and 13 points in 58 games, missing 12 games earlier this season due to a lower-body injury.

The Maple Leafs, who lead the Atlantic by three points over the Tampa Bay Lightning, return to action Saturday when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Hockey Night in Canada.
