Ingrown’s Ross Hansen picks 10 albums of metal, country, Celtic folk & more (to dirt bike to)
Ross Hansen of the dirt-bike-and-guns-loving Idaho death metal/hardcore band Ingrown picks his 10 favorite albums for hitting the dirt trails.

The brutally-heavy death metal/hardcore band Ingrown proudly rep their home state on their new album Idaho, and the band have an aesthetic informed by dirt bikes, cowboy guns, denim, and other signifiers to let you know Ingrown are proudly not coastal elites. Keeping with that theme, vocalist/guitarist Ross Hansen has now made us a list of his 10 favorite albums for dirt biking. It ranges from Power Trip to Waylon Jennings to Ross’ father’s ’80s hardcore band State of Confusion (whose song “Asylum” Ingrown cover on Idaho), and he’s also got some Celtic folk on there, something Ingrown explore themselves on Idaho‘s album-closing title track. It’s a great list of albums with fun commentary from Ross, and it’s worth checking out even if you won’t be tearing up a dirt trail any time in the near future.

10 Favorite Albums for Dirt Biking, by Ingrown’s Ross Hansen
1.) The Tannahill Weavers – The Tannahill Weavers IV
The charging gallop of the bagpipes on any of those jigs will power you through any amount of muddy puddles
2.) Power Trip – Demo 2008
“Divine Apprehension” is enough to send anyone through the skies on two wheels
3.) Waylon Jennings – Leavin Town
This is the whistlepiggin’ soundtrack and the record we play every time we head out to the desert
4.) State of Confusion – 6.3 Million Acres
This album is THE representation of public land. The title itself is the amount of it in Idaho in 1986. Fast hardcore is number one.
5.) James Galway & The Chieftains – In Ireland
The flute and the harp are unmatched in this purely magical record. It sounds like what green highland hills look like and this is one of the most uplifting records of all time
6.) Flat & Scruggs – Town and Country
You got “Nashville Blues,” you got “Foggy Mountain Breakdown.” Just about makes you wanna slam.
7.) Immolation – Majesty and Decay
It is wintertime at night and you are lost in the forest. “The Rapture of Ghosts” is the last thing you hear before you are faced with a final fatal chess match against the snow devil himself.
8.) The Dubliners – (Live) 1964
These guys are the kings of Irish, and the number one thing to listen to down a dirt trail.
9.) George Jones – I Get Lonely In A Hurry
Greatest singer of all time.
10.) Obituary – Dying of Everything
This album kicks ass everywhere and is a lot of fun. It will kick you into overdrive and probably inspire you to write a song.
