How To Free Dr. Garrow From Prison In Atomfall

After some investigative work in Wyndham Village, you discover that an NPC named Dr. Garrow is locked away in Skethermoor Prison in Atomfall. Dr Garrow is a key figure in the game’s story, but breaking her out of prison isn’t an easy job whatsoever. You need to use a specific device called the Signal Redirector to get past the prison’s initial security, which we have covered in a previous walkthrough, but that’s only a small part of getting to the doctor’s location. Below, you can see exactly what you need to do to free Dr. Garrow from Skethermoor Prison in Atomfall. Getting past the prison securityYour first step in rescuing Dr Garrow from her prison cell is to get past the initial wave of security that surrounds the Skethermoor Prison. The entire area’s perimeter is either gated off or has small entrances that are guarded by Protocol soldiers and large, mobile robots. However, your biggest issue is the alarm bells stationed all across the perimeter, as these start to beep loudly the closer you get to them. The only way to disable the alarm bells and prevent every guard from knowing your location is to shut them down. This is done by using a Signal Redirector on the junction box located beneath an alarm bell. The Signal Redirector is found in an Unexplored Bunker called the Protocol Field Station in the middle of Skethermoor. The device is in the Windfall’s Crate within this bunker, and finding it is a quest on its own in Atomfall. You get the directions for the Signal Redirector through an NPC named Nora, who has a barn located in the northeast part of Skethermoor.Once you have the Signal Redirector, you can approach an alarm bell, whip out the device, and then use it on the junction box beneath the bell. Hack the junction box to power down the bell so it stops beeping when you’re near it. The best strategy is to find an alarm bell without too many enemies around, but have it still be close to the prison entrance. Then, once it’s powered down, move on through to the next layer of the prison. Getting inside Skethermoor PrisonOnce you are past the alarm bells and the initial security, make sure to follow your quest marker for the Dr Garrow investigation. This will lead you to the door you need to enter, which goes inside the prison. To get there, you’ll need to dodge a couple of laser machine guns, those hulking robots, and dozens of armed guards. There’s no right way to go about making your way to the prison entrance. You simply want to make sure you’re not drawing too much attention to yourself, especially from the laser guns and robots.Hide when you need to hide and wait for the robots to start patrolling a different area before making your move. As for the lasers, you just want to avoid them altogether and go a different way than where they are pointing. If you find their junction boxes, you can turn them off with the Signal Redirector, too.I ended up getting close enough to the prison door that I was able to quickly run inside. Guards in Atomfall don’t follow you through doors after you go through them, so don’t worry about any enemies you’re leaving behind.

Getting past the prison security

Your first step in rescuing Dr Garrow from her prison cell is to get past the initial wave of security that surrounds the Skethermoor Prison.

You get the directions for the Signal Redirector through an NPC named Nora, who has a barn located in the northeast part of Skethermoor.

Once you have the Signal Redirector, you can approach an alarm bell, whip out the device, and then use it on the junction box beneath the bell. Hack the junction box to power down the bell so it stops beeping when you’re near it. The best strategy is to find an alarm bell without too many enemies around, but have it still be close to the prison entrance. Then, once it’s powered down, move on through to the next layer of the prison.

Getting inside Skethermoor Prison

Once you are past the alarm bells and the initial security, make sure to follow your quest marker for the Dr Garrow investigation. This will lead you to the door you need to enter, which goes inside the prison.

To get there, you’ll need to dodge a couple of laser machine guns, those hulking robots, and dozens of armed guards. There’s no right way to go about making your way to the prison entrance. You simply want to make sure you’re not drawing too much attention to yourself, especially from the laser guns and robots.

Hide when you need to hide and wait for the robots to start patrolling a different area before making your move. As for the lasers, you just want to avoid them altogether and go a different way than where they are pointing. If you find their junction boxes, you can turn them off with the Signal Redirector, too.

I ended up getting close enough to the prison door that I was able to quickly run inside. Guards in Atomfall don’t follow you through doors after you go through them, so don’t worry about any enemies you’re leaving behind.

Navigating the prison

After making your way inside Skethermoor Prison, you want to avoid any guard you can, but early on, you’ll just find one or two of them sitting inside separate rooms. Loot the rooms if you want, but keep descending down any stairs until you reach a locked, vault door.

Off to the side of this door is a control room where you can find a button to push in the center of an electronic console. Pushing the button allows you to go through the door and inside the cell block area of the prison.

In the cell block area, you start on the top level and have to eventually work your way down to the ground floor. There are a few guards on patrol, and a large robot is walking through the center hallway on the bottom floor. Deal with the guards and then head down to the ground floor, avoiding the robot at all costs. Off to the side in the middle part of the ground floor, you’ll find a control room. Push the button on the console in front of the control room to enter it.

The control room itself isn’t too important, but it allows you to access new parts of the prison. Head out one of the doors in the control room to find a hallway, where one or two guards are on patrol. Kill or avoid the guards and then look for a room labeled “Bunk Room.” It shouldn’t be too far from the control room.

In the Bunk Room, loot the “Security Keycard” lying on the central table and make your way back to the cell block area. Avoiding the robot, go to the large vault door on the other end of the room from where you came in, insert the Security Keycard into the slot to the right of the door, and then go through it.

Speaking with Dr. Garrow

The next section of the prison is fairly easy to navigate. The room after the cell block area is a large cave with a single laser machine gun that watches over everything. Try and avoid the laser as much as you can and make your way to the far right of its location. There, you’ll be able to climb up a metal bridge and go past the laser into a new room.

The room you’re now in is a warehouse of sorts with cell cages in the middle of it. Jump down onto one of the orange shelves from where you’re located, eliminate a couple of guards wandering around, and then speak to Dr. Garrow, whose cage is in the middle of the room.

Freeing Dr. Garrow

Go to speak with Dr. Garrow in her cage, and she’ll request that you shut down the power keeping her cage doors locked. You can do this with your Signal Redirector. From Dr. Garrow’s cage, head to the back right of the warehouse and find a small window that you can crawl through (as seen in the screenshot above).

Go through the window and find the junction box on the back wall. Divert its power and then go through the door that requires the Security Keycard to unlock. In this new room, pull the lever on the console with the red light. This releases all of the prisoners, including Dr. Garrow, from their cages.

Dr. Garrow immediately runs out of the prison, so you won’t have a chance to talk to her again in the prison. Instead, you can follow the other prisoners out the exact way you came in. You can use your Signal Redirector to open up a new door, but you’ll essentially backtrack the entire way to the outside of the prison.

When you’re out of the prison, try your best to avoid the guards as much as possible, even though they’ll mostly be busy with the other escaped prisoners. Still, they will see and shoot you if you’re out in the open, so use your best judgment when trying to escape.

If you make it out of the prison, your next task in the Dr. Garrow investigation is to locate her in the Interchange, which we’ll cover in an entirely different walkthrough.
