‘He’s in trouble’ – Canelo Alvarez’s next rival posts new training footage and fans are concerned

Canelo Alvarez’s next opponent William Scull has posted training footage and fans are fearing the worst. Scull will look to cause a seismic upset when he takes on pound-for-pound superstar Alvarez on May 3 in Riyadh. Scull has been working out before his clash with Alvarez but fans aren’t convinced The Cuban snatched the IBF super-middleweight world title, and will stake his belt in the undisputed clash with the Mexican. Victory seems like it could be an uphill battle, given Alvarez needs a victory to set up his huge clash with Terence Crawford in September. But it is clear that Scull is leaving no stone unturned, working hard in his training camp. He has posted new footage of his camp, where he can be seen wearing what appears to be an oxygen machine. Scull was letting his hands go on the pads with his coach in the southpaw stance, a hint at his approach to trying to tame Alvarez. But fans are not convinced, and fear he could be dealt with quickly by his fellow champion. One wrote: “Wow, he’s getting knocked out inside three rounds.” Another agreed: “Crikey he’s in trouble, doesn’t look like he will be anywhere near Canelo’s level.” A fan surprisingly reacted: “Has he ever fought before? Looks very confused!” While another user added: “That guy is big, but he’s going to get stopped. Too slow for Canelo, in my opinion.” Scull is looking to dethrone Alvarez against all oddsGETTY But others were optimistic on chances, with one writing: “I’ve never seen that kind of training. Pretty cool.” Another suggested: “Notice he’s working on timing Canelo’s faint left hook he dropped Berlanga with. Canelo better not f**k up the bag.” While a final fan concluded: “Any man with two hands has at least a fighting chance. He looks big.” Despite the debate, Alvarez will be an overwhelming favourite to deal with Scull comfortably. But there is always a punchers chance and the Cuban is more confident and motivated than ever that he can derail Alvarez’s 2025 route map. The 168lbs division king has never been beaten in the weight class and remains a formidable force. And former world champion Sergio Mora believes that Alvarez could be overlooking Scull, particularly given his planned showdown with Crawford. He said: “People are going to have insomnia when they see William Scull because he’s a tricky fighter. “He’s not going to take chances. He’s a spoiler type. Are they sleeping on him? They don’t know what to think, including myself. “There’s not too much tape, and the tape I do see of Shishkin, he doesn’t take chances. He can be a spoiler and a stinker. “He can go all the way to decision. He can make Canelo look bad, but as far as beating Canelo, I don’t see it. “I don’t think people should be sleeping on him.
