The Athletics are giving a former top prospect of the Toronto Blue Jays his first taste of the big leagues.
Right-handed pitcher Gunnar Hoglund is being called up by the A’s, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. He is the A’s No. 14 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
Hoglund, 25, was a first-round pick by the Blue Jays in 2021. He was recovering from Tommy John surgery at the time he was drafted and never pitched in the Blue Jays organization.
In March 2022, Toronto dealt Hoglund to the A’s as part of the Matt Chapman trade.
