Golden Knights’ Mark Stone leaves Game 3 vs. Oilers with upper-body injury

The Vegas Golden Knights powered back from a two-goal deficit to even the score before the first period ended, and they did it without their captain.

Mark Stone did not play the final 6:20 of the opening frame of Game 3 against the Edmonton Oilers and was not visible on the bench.

Shortly after the start of the second period, Vegas said Stone would not return to the game due to an upper-body injury.

It’s unclear when he suffered the injury, but he did make incidental head contact with the knee of Oilers forward Corey Perry and appeared to be in discomfort afterwards.

He played 5:54 total and recorded one shot on goal and was a minus-1.

An injury to the 32-year-old would be a big loss for the Golden Knights, as he leads the team in playoff goals with four in eight games, and is second only to Jack Eichel in points this post-season (eight).
