The Grand National Festival is primed this week and often associated with the contest itself and the races before are the big prices available on potential winners. Even in recent years for the Grand National we have seen winners like Noble Yeats win at 50/1 but there’s scope to see some big winners throughout the week. talkSPORT BET have you covered with Tom Lunn’s racing tips on all the day’s action! talkSPORT BET – Bet £10 Get £30 free bets – CLAIM HERE* The Grand National is live on talkSPORT taking place this Saturday, April 5th with an off time of 4pm. 34 runners head over the 4m2f course and this year it’s set to be another cracker with Cheltenham Festival another big factor in how the betting has shaped up. Grand National 2025 odds from talkSPORT BET Grand National Festival 846/1 treble Stage Star 6/1 Celtic Dino 10/1 Vanillier 10/1 Get £4369.75 from this £5 each-way treble at 846/1 Stage Star Stage Star is one tipped for a jolt at this contest after impressing greatly with a very encouraging run in the Cotswold Chase against L’Homme Presse. That was his first time over further than 2m5f and it seemed to suit him perfectly. Especially with his liking to take things up from the front in order to set a strong honest pace and still have enough in the tank to close out well too. He just got pipped to the post by the ten-year-old and well experienced gelding, which showed Stage Star is dangerously unexposed over 3m+ and could even improve on his second attempt at this distance. His form narrowly behind L’Homme Presse puts him right up there against these rivals and given his strong round of jumping can put this one to bed just after the last fence. Celtic Dino It’s a huge ante-post price for Celtic Dino who is a varied price across all bookmakers currently, from 8/1 to 14/1. There are still 40+ runners before the declarations narrow it down to a maximum of 22 runners. The six-year-old has top potential for trainer Sam Thomas and is set to have regular rider Dylan Johnston on board which will be a huge plus in a contest restricted to Conditional and Amateur Riders. This horse placed well but still far off the runaway winner Potters Charm here on Boxing Day, but that was partly due to the ground for which he’s been a non-runner before for that reason. Returned in February to place behind Tripoli Flyer where a couple of mistakes were his downfall and there should be much more to him if he can rectify that. Vanillier I tipped Vanillier last year at around 9/1 but he could only finish 14th of 32. That’s not to dissuade you from backing him this year though. He went on from that Grand National to run quite poorly in another two contests, which is no surprise as the race can often have a knock on effect to horses who’ve completed the National. But he has really bounced back in 2025 and drops further in the weights to give him even more of a chance. To drop 3lb from his latest run at Cheltenham Festival in the Cross Country is very encouraging. He ran on from way back to claim third and was a big eyecatcher as the grey stormed on to grab a place, especially having almost gone completely the wrong way part way round the Cross Country which probably cost him a go at challenging for the win. This horse is one that always finds more at the end and has the kind of attitude that is impossible to train sometimes and that is a desire to run on at the end and win. He’s my only early entry stage tip for now but there are numerous more horses that are intriguing right now. Most of that is due to the Cheltenham Festival last week opening up the betting.
