Gervonta Davis reveals strange reason he took a knee in controversial Lamont Roach fight

Gervonta Davis has blamed his hairdresser for him taking a knee during his controversial fight with Lamont Roach. Davis retained his WBA lightweight title after boxing to a majority draw against Roach in Brooklyn on Saturday night. In the end, the judges couldn’t decide on a winner with two of them scoring it a 114-114 draw while a third official edged the fight in Davis‘ favour by a narrow margin of 115-113. Roach would have been declared the victor if referee Steve Willis had scored a knockdown in the ninth round when Davis took a knee. A grazing jab appeared to compromise Davis’ vision temporarily as he dropped to one knee before walking over to his corner to get a piece of debris wiped from his eye. Willis started a count but cancelled it upon realising that Davis wasn’t hurt – much to the dismay of observers. Roach opened up a massive underdog but he proved the bookies wrong by pushing ‘Tank’ all the way up to the final bell.
