‘For your life’ – Israel Adesanya gives passionate UFC 315 reaction as Jack Della Maddalena equals Alexander Volkanovski record

Israel Adesanya says he can’t wait to see what’s next for Jack Della Maddalena after his UFC 315 title win. In doing so, the 28-year-old joined fellow Australian Alexander Volkanovski as just the second person from his country to win a UFC title. Former middleweight champion and New Zealander Adesanya was rooting for his fellow Oceania native, acknowledging this during his reaction to the main event in Montreal, Canada. “For your life! … I love it when one of us [wins] and gets the gold,” he said. “[It’s the] top, the pinnacle of the sport, and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer, cooler guy.  “[A] well deserved and well-earned guy, he did the hard yards just through his hands, and f***, I can’t wait to see what’s next for him. “Somebody said Islam [Makhachev’s] next, but tonight’s about Jack – f****** respect and salute.” Della Maddalena’s title victory has had huge ramifications on his own welterweight division, but also down at 155lbs. Makhachev is the UFC lightweight champion and was waiting on the outcome of the bout to decide his next move in the promotion. If the champion had defended his belt, Makhachev would’ve stayed at lightweight to avoid fighting his good friend and training partner Muhammad at welterweight. However, if Della Maddalena got the victory, the Russian star would move up to 170lbs and attempt to become a two-division UFC champion after revealing that he would not be vacating his current strap if that was the case.
