The Boston Fleet will be without Kelly Babstock for two games after the PWHL handed out a suspension to the Canadian forward on Saturday.

Babcock was assessed a match penalty in Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Sceptres for slew-footing Jesse Compher, prompting a review from the PWHL’s Player Safety Committee.

“Babstock used her upper and lower body simultaneously to drive Sceptres forward Jesse Compher backwards, causing her to fall dangerously to the ice,” the committee said in its ruling. “Babstock was previously assessed a one-game suspension this season following a cross-checking incident on Jan. 2 against Minnesota.”

Babstock, 32, has yet to record a point over six games with Boston this season.

The Fleet currently sit third in the PWHL standings with 40 points.

The PWHL also announced a $250 fine for Montreal Victoire defender Erin Ambrose for a cross-check on Wednesday against the Minnesota Frost.

“The Player Safety Committee determined that she illegally used her stick to cross-check opponent Denisa Křižova in the shoulders, which rode up toward her head, and went unpenalized during play,” the PWHL said.

Ambrose has 12 assists in 25 games this season for the PWHL-leading Victoire while carrying a plus-10 rating.
