However, he has now departed the role and did so ahead of the Brit’s 6-2 6-1 Miami Open victory against Sayaka Ishii on Tuesday. “Emma and Vlado have parted ways,” a statement from Raducanu’s team said. “Emma has utmost respect for Vlado and the work they started but it wasn’t quite heading in the right direction. “Emma is now focused on doing as well as she can here in Miami after her a solid start today and will continue looking for the right coach.” Platenik joined as coach despite a previous interview in which he called the job as ‘coaching suicide’. “Emma also approached me in a similar situation right after a great success [winning the US Open in 2021], which is why I said it could be coaching suicide,’ he told Slovak newspaper Dennik N, via the Daily Mail. “But now she is in a completely different position.” Their partnership was set to run until the end of the French Open, but Raducanu is now seeking the eighth coach of her career. Her victory in Miami has set up a second round clash against Emma Navarro, who entered the tournament as the eighth seed.
