Eddie Fuhrer named 2025 Rod Campbell Award recipient

Eddie Fuhrer is the 2025 recipient of the prestigious Rod Campbell Award, presented annually to an individual looking to kick-start a career in motorsports.

The 21-year-old, a leader in the USOpenWheelNation.com website, has exemplified outstanding commitment, dedication, and perseverance in his quest to become a professional in motorsports, overwhelmingly impacting the Rod Campbell Award selection committee.

“Winning the Rod Campbell Award is an honor that I am truly grateful for,” explained Fuhrer. “As someone who has avidly read up on Rod’s life, career, and legacy, I deeply admire the path he has paved for those of us in motorsport communications. This award will be essential in helping me build toward a full-time career in motorsports, in whatever shape that takes.”

The Rod Campbell Award is named in honor of Rod Campbell, a pioneering figure whose work and dedication to excellence continue to inspire future generations. Established in 2021, the award recognizes those who have gone above and beyond in their respective professions, creating a meaningful legacy of service, progress, and community engagement.

With a wealth of knowledge already secured, contacts to grow in the future, and now part of the Rod Campbell Award program, Fuhrer was chosen by a panel made up of automotive and motorsport executives and will now continue to gain paid experience with companies within the motorsports and automotive industry throughout the summer of 2025.

In Fuhrer short career, he has achieved remarkable success in building and launching an open wheel racing news website which he has self-funded. Fuhrer’s commitment to motorsports has seen him attend several events in his efforts to gather news related articles and bring USOpenWheelNation.com to the forefront has set him apart as an outstanding leader.

In addition to his accomplishments, Fuhrer’s passion for motorsports has further strengthened his impact, inspiring colleagues and peers alike. His dedication to the sport, which he learned through his late father, has earned him the respect of those within the Rod Campbell Award selection committee and beyond.

Fuhrer added, “This award will allow me to build upon the skills I need to achieve my goal of being around a racetrack as much as possible. I’ve already gained valuable experience by starting my own website, and the opportunity to complement that with the expertise of the companies I’ll be working with is a great privilege.”

“The Rod Campbell Award provides an incredible pathway for those who seek to build a career in motorsports, and to add my name to the list of winners is something I’m truly grateful for. I’m excited for what’s next in my career, and I’m confident that this honor will play a significant role in helping me achieve it.”

The award was established to perpetuate a launchpad of opportunity for young professionals looking to begin successful careers in the automotive and motorsports arenas.

Fuhrer, who is the fifth annual award winner, will receive paid apprenticeship-style experience in companies run by Rod’s protégés which include Michelle Baker, Townsend Bell, Jason Campbell, Sean Jones, Chris Lencheski, Steve Madincea, Jose Matiauda, Mike Maurini, Paul Pfanner, David Scheinberg, and Jeff Swoboda. Eddie will follow in the footsteps of previous award winners including Cedric Burkhardt, AJ Abate, Madison Kinner, and Natasha Pinto.
