Debby Friday announces new album, shares “All I Wanna Do Is Party” video

Debby Friday has announced the follow-up to her 2023 Polaris Prize-winning debut album GOOD LUCK. It’s titled The Starrr Of The Queen Of Life which is out August 1 via Sub Pop. She co-produced it with Darcy Baylis and says, “I want to be a starrr, I can’t hide that desire,” she says. “But what I don’t want is to live someone else’s dream or to follow a pre-set path.”

The album includes recent single “1/17” and she’s just released new song “All I Wanna Do Is Party.” It’s a banger and comes with a video, set at a dance studio, and she co-directed it with Kevin Funk. “The video is really about discipline and craft,” Debby says. “It’s about the transformations that happen when you devote yourself to a process over time. The starrr is a metaphor for all these thoughts I have around fame, success, failure, love, power, god, death, life, everything. My starrr is in me, and your starrr is in you, and it’s just a matter of surrendering to it.”
