If there was anyone who was going to fall off a stage it would be Danny van Trijp. The aptly named darts star took a tumble off the oche at the Modus Super Series event in Portsmouth on Wednesday. It closed out the third leg of his and Jimmy van Schie’s match against Belgian duo of Dimitri van den Bergh and Brian Raman. The Dutch pair were 2-0 down and brought it back to 2-1 thanks to Van Trijp closing out the leg. As he walked back to his playing partner, admiring his work, he took a tumble off stage. Cue the laughter from everyone inside the arena. Raman even gave his opponent a pat on the back as Van Trijp regained his composure. Commentator Laura Turner said: “The players need a bit of a moment… I think me and Henry need a bit of a moment!” Co-commentator Henry Deacon added: “How was your trip, Steve?” That little moment was perhaps the spark the Dutch duo needed to win the match. They won the match 4-3 in a tough match where they averaged just 82.22.
