Correa switches to Indy NXT with HMD

Juan Manuel Correa is rerouting his junior open-wheel career from Europe to the U.S. with HMD Motorsports, starting with this weekend’s Indy NXT race on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.

The 25-year-old Ecuadorian American returns after spending the better part of 10 seasons abroad in everything from karts to F4, F3, and F2 with a long recovery period required after the 2019 F2 crash at Spa that delivered significant leg and back injuries and also resulted in the death of Anthoine Hubert.

Correa steps into the vacant HMD seat with a plan to contest two oval tests and seven race weekends with the team that won the 2022 and ’23 NXT drivers’ championships.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the HMD Motorsports family and compete in Indy NXT in 2025,” Correa said. “This opportunity is a huge step in my career, and I’m looking forward to applying everything I’ve learned in my previous experiences to the upcoming races. The support from the team has been amazing, and I’m ready to give my best on track.”
