Nashville Predators prospect Andrew Gibson tied it at 2-2 early in the third with his second goal of the game before New York Islanders prospect Calum Ritchie put Oshawa in front for good at 16:35 with a power-play goal.
Matthew Buckley added an empty-netter to seal it.
The result snapped London’s 17-game winning streak in the OHL post-season, dating back to last season. The streak included a London sweep of Oshawa in last year’s OHL final.
Rene Van Bommel and Kasper Halttunen scored for the Knights in Game 1.
Generals goalie Jacob Oster made 30 saves and was named first star.
The best-of-seven series resumes Saturday in London, Ont.
Meanwhile, the Medicine Hat Tigers host the Spokane Chiefs in Game 1 of the WHL final on Friday.
The Moncton Wildcats entertain the Rimouski Oceanic in Game 1 of the QMJHL final on Saturday.
