Tatum appeared to suffer the injury in the fourth quarter of Boston’s Game 1 victory on Wednesday when he fell hard on his wrist following a hard foul from the Magic’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
The 27-year-old played 72 games during the regular season, averaging 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds and a career-high of six assists per contest.
Boston, the defending champion, is the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference after compiling a 61-21 regular-season record.
Orlando advanced to the playoffs after beating the Atlanta Hawks in the Play-In Tournament.
The Celtics won Game 1 by a score of 103-86 as Tatum recorded 17 points, 14 rebounds and four assists in 40 minutes.
