CCH Pounder (“The Shield”) has been cast in Apple TV+’s “Cape Fear” from executive producers Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, Variety reports.
The four-time Emmy nominee joins the previously announced Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson.
We’ve also learned that Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game, Passengers) has signed on to executive produce and direct the pilot.
The show is based on both John D. MacDonald‘s 1957 novel The Executioners, which was adapted into 1962’s Cape Fear starring Gregory Peck, and Scorsese’s 1991 remake with Robert De Niro.
In it, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), a notorious killer from their past, gets out of prison.
“Channel Zero” and “Brand New Cherry Flavor” creator Nick Antosca will serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the 10-episode series.
UCP, where Antosca and his Eat the Cat banner are under an overall deal, is producing “Cape Fear.”
Pounder’s genre credits include Orphan, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, End of Days, Face/Off, Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight, RoboCop 3, Psycho IV: The Beginning, and “Millennium.”
