Canucks’ Elias Pettersson to miss final three games of season

With only three games left before their season ends, the Vancouver Canucks will not be getting Elias Pettersson back from injury.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday’s matchup against the Minnesota Wild, head coach Rick Tocchet said Pettersson is being shut down.

“Probably going to shut Petey down. He’s getting better, but at this point, best to shut him down,” said Tocchet.

Pettersson, 26, has been out of the lineup since March 22 due to an undisclosed injury. In 64 games this season, the Swede recorded 45 points (15 goals, 30 assists).

Tocchet also said Filip Chytil, who’s been out with a concussion since March 15 is “stacking good days.” But the 25-year-old Czech won’t return this season, either.

Meanwhile, goaltender Thatcher Demko will not be available for Saturday’s game due to illness, per Tocchet. Max Sasson will also be out, while forward Ty Mueller will make his NHL debut.
