If the Canadian men’s soccer team wants to take third place in the Concacaf Nations League, it will have to do so without the services of its best player.
Canada’s Alphonso Davies exited the third-place match against the U.S. with an injury in the 12th minute. Davies went down on the pitch and was spotted holding his right leg.
The Canadian superstar headed straight to the team’s locker room and was replaced by Niko Sigur. Davies came back to the sidelines with ice on his right knee.
Davies suffered a minor hamstring injury in Canada’s semifinal loss to Mexico, but was deemed fit to start against the U.S.
The 24-year-old has appeared in 57 international games for Canada and has 15 goals including one of Canada’s three goals at the the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
