Can an employer fire me if I was hired when I wasn’t supposed to be in the first place? [closed]
I recently obtained employment in Staples in Connecticut, and starting on 3/13, did onboarding, finished training, and started the actual job, but was called on Monday (3/18) and was told I wasn’t actually supposed to receive the job, to not come in for the future shifts I was scheduled for, and that they received the next onboarding steps when they weren’t supposed to. When I asked for further details, they couldn’t provide anything. I was told that there may be some law that could prevent my termination in my state, but I’m not too sure about that, as I have not done any research regarding it, but I will update this after finding anything relevant. My question is simple: can they actually do this? And as a follow up if not, what can I do about it? Update: did a little bit of searching in my state business requirements for termination, and none of them pertain to my circumstances, so I’m confused…
