If you’re a traditional car guy, the Ford Ranger MS-RT has to be one of the coolest things at the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS). Ford fans would know M-Sport as the folks behind Ford’s World Rally Championship (WRC) team, and this Ranger MS-RT is a motorsport-inspired pick-up truck by the outfit. It’s something different compared to the usual off-road rugged theme made popular by Ford’s own Raptor series.
Previously reserved for Europe, Ranger MS-RT wears a bodykit inspired by race trucks competing in the Thailand Super Pickup series. There’s a deep front air dam with a trapezoidal air intake, honeycomb mesh grille and an integrated splitter, along with integrated fender flares (incorporating front vents leading into the sculpted side skirts) that widen the truck by 82 mm.
This wider stance goes really well with the 40 mm lower ride height and 21-inch wheels. The rims – the biggest ever seen on a factory Ranger – are wrapped with ContiSportContact 5 UHP rubber, not typical truck tyres. There are also power-retractable side steps and an MS-RT-branded fuel filler cap. Two spoilers at the back, one for the roof and a ducktail for the tailgate. The bumper integrates a diffuser.
Inside, you’ll fine front bucket seats (eight-way powered) and a sculpted sports steering wheel with a blue marker at 12. Blue accents are also found on the faux leather and suede upholstery, and MS-RT logos are applied to the seats, carpets and just behind the gear lever.
The MS-RT is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel with 250 PS (10 PS above stock) and 600 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and an electronic four-wheel-drive system. The Ranger’s one-tonne payload and 3,500 kg towing capacity is unchanged. The above-mentioned 40 mm lower suspension consists of firmer front dampers and a retuned rear setup.
The Ranger MS-RT is priced at 1.749 million baht (RM228,435) for the standard Absolute Black paint you see here. Conquer Grey is a 10,000 baht (RM1,306) option. Racing instead of off-road – it’s not a typical path for an upgraded truck, but doesn’t the Ranger MS-RT look so cool? On-road performance would be much better too thanks to the sticky tyres and sport-tuned suspension. What say you?
