Anjelica Huston has revealed that Jack Nicholson offered her a place to stay during the LA wildfires.

The pair dated on and off from 1973 to 1990 and when Huston recently evacuated her ranch near the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California following the fires, the actor said he was the first to call her.

She told PEOPLE: “The phone just rang out of nowhere, and it was him. It’s always a comfort when he calls.”

Huston added: “It was heartbreakingly sweet. I’ve gone back over it ­several times in my head, and I think next time I’d accept the invitation.”

She first met Nicholson at a party at his home in LA in 1973, a month after she broke up with photographer Bob Richardson. In 1985, Huston’s father, actor and director John Huston, cast her and Nicholson in his film Prizzi’s Honor.

Huston split from Nicholson for a final time in 1990, after he fathered a child outside of their relationship with actress Rebecca Broussard.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actor revealed that she was recently treated for cancer after being diagnosed following filming on John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in 2019.

“That was a very serious moment for me. I managed to survive it, and I’m proud of myself,” she said, now four years cancer free.

Huston added: “It came as a big shock, but it made me conscious of what I shouldn’t do, of places I shouldn’t go. One of those places was taking life too seriously. So now when the opportunity arises, I laugh, and I try not to make a big deal out of things.”

Nicholson meanwhile, recently made a rare public appearance on Saturday Night Live’s 50th Anniversary celebration episode, making up part of the live crowd and introducing one of the acts.
