The video game adaptation remains the highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year, and is now in the home stretch of its mission to hit the coveted $1 billion mark at the global box office. Directed by Jared Hess, A Minecraft Movie stars hit-makers Jack Black and Jason Momoa in the lead roles, and has successfully demonstrated the power of the Gen-Z audience. Its unexpected success can be compared to the viral hit Five Nights at Freddy’s a couple of years ago.
