Following the announcement that the Audi Q7 will emerge as a locally assembled (CKD) model from the Pekan, Pahang plant for the Malaysian market, Audi Malaysia is now taking registrations of interest (ROI) for the updated seven-seater SUV – head to the link, here.
According to PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM) and Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) MD Denyu Bosthandziev, the Q7 will be built at a new production line at the Pekan plant, and the official launch for the model in Malaysia will take place in May this year.
Audi had first indicated its local assembly plans in Malaysia in January 2024, as Bosthandziev said that CKD local assembly will help the brand each out to its customers in terms of offering more competitive pricing for its products.
This would make the Q7 not only the first Malaysia-assembled Audi, but also the first from the brand to be assembled in Southeast Asia. With the Q7, Audi is aiming for just 10% of the premium executive SUV market in Malaysia, which is presently dominated by the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, both also locally assembled models for Malaysia.
The Audi Q7 is presently in its second generation, with its second facelift having emerged in 2024. From debut, the updated model gets a 3.0 litre turbodiesel in 231 PS/500 Nm and 241 PS/600 Nm states of tune, and a 340 PS/500 Nm 3.0 litre turbo V6 petrol; the latter is what’s most likely for Malaysia.
Registrations of interest for the updated Audi Q7 in Malaysia are now open – register your interest here.
