Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) has announced that four special train services are being added to its northern edition of the Lambaian Aidilfitri Express to meet the high demand from travellers during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period.
In a statement, KTM said the additional services are scheduled for March 27 and April 3 from KL Sentral to Padang Besar, Perlis, and on March 28 and April 4 from Padang Besar to KL Sentral, Bernama reports.
The trains from KL Sentral will depart at 10.30 pm on the two aforementioned dates, arriving in Padang Besar at 7.22 am the following day. Meanwhile, the return journey from Padang Besar is set for 10.30 pm on the scheduled dates, arriving at KL Sentral at 7.10 am the next day. The trains will stop at major stations, including Tanjung Malim, Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar and Taiping in Perak, Sungai Petani and Alor Setar in Kedah as well as Arau in Perlis.
The rail operator said the special train service provides an alternative mode of transportation for Aidilfitri, allowing people to return home or travel for the holidays conveniently without experiencing the heavy traffic congestion that usually occurs with road travel during the festive season.
Tickets for these services will be available for sale starting from today, March 17, and can be purchased via the KTM Mobile (KITS) app and kiosk machines or through its official website.
