Will there be a ‘Poker Face’ season three?

The second season of Natasha Lyonne’s murder mystery comedy Poker Face is here, but will there be a third season? Read on to find out.
The comedy crime show sees Russian Doll star Lyonne playing Charlie Cale, a character with an innate ability to detect lies, as she traverses the US solving intricate murder cases while having to evade dangerous adversaries.
The show was created by Rian Johnson (Knives Out, Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and the second season has been overseen by Tony Tost (Damnation, Americana). The first three episodes premiered on Thursday (May 8), with the remainder set to come out weekly until the finale on July 10. It is available on Peacock in the US and Sky and NOW TV in the UK.
Season two boasts an impressive array of guest stars, including Cynthia Erivo, Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, John Mulaney, Kumail Nanjiani, Awkwafina and Haley Joel Osment.
The first season was named by NME as the fifth best show of 2023, noting: “What set Poker Face apart in the age of streaming was its embrace of old-school episodic storytelling. In Knives Out creator Rian Johnson’s ingenious ode to case-of-the-week dramas like Colombo, the always-enthralling Natasha Lyonne starred as human lie-detector waitress Charlie Cale, who was forced to go on the lam when her casino-owning mobster boss attempted to exploit her skill in a scam – with devastating consequences.”
“In each destination she stopped off in, she became embroiled in a brand-new mystery, ranging from resentful reunited heavy metal bands, feuding race-car drivers, to revenge-crazed former cult members in a retirement village – before calling (literal) “bullshit!” on the murderer’s carefully-constructed house of cards. Add in a procession of high-profile guest stars – including Ellen Barkin, Nick Nolte, and Chloë Sevigny – having the time of their lives and leaving teeth-marks on the scenery, and you had 2023’s most tremendously entertaining new show. No bullshit.”
Will there be a Poker Face season three?
At the time of writing, there has been no official announcement regarding a third season of Poker Face.
However, the second season was commissioned by Peacock just weeks after the first episodes of season one premiered in January 2023, indicating their enthusiasm for continuing the series. Those hoping for more from Charlie Cale and her escapades may not have long before they hear what the future of the show is.
Johnson indicated from the outset that he always envisaged Poker Face as being a show with longevity, telling Collider in 2023: “There are infinite stories to tell. As people watch more and more episodes and realise how distinct each one is…there is endless possibility.”
Lyonne is also up for more. When asked by Geek Tyrant about the number of seasons of the show she would like to see, she quipped: “76”.
