Why is the need for a "Megamodel"?
In "Model-DrivenSoftware Engineering in Practice", https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-02549-5 I found this new concept of "Megamodels". I quote from above : A key element to manage the ecosystem as a whole is keeping in one place (a model) all the information about the involved models and the relationships between them. This model is known as a megamodel [23]. ... megamodel can be viewed as a metadata repository where precise representations of models and the relationships between them are stored and made available to users for various purposes. Recently, it is also mentioned in the foreword of "Domain-Specific Languages", https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-23669-3/ Apparently, academicians have coined this term and a tool "MoScript" among others, to reason about managing models in Java. I am not sure about the answer of the following question. Can we use a megamodel to manage megamodels ? I would answer yes, because the megamodel is a model that must conform to it's meta-model.
