Wayne Taylor Racing’s Danny Formal and Hampus Ericsson claimed pole positions for the opening two rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season after a pair of Thursday qualifying sessions at Sebring International Raceway.

Formal led the way in first qualifying, reeling off a 2:01.233 second lap in the No. 1 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 he shares with Ericsson, to edge out Will Bamber by 0.195 seconds for the Pro class pole.

TR3 Racing’s Jason Hart went second fastest overall to claim the Pro-Am class pole, ahead of stablemate Will Bamber’s Pro-class Huracan in third.

Andy Lee’s No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsport entry was fourth fastest overall and second-quickest in Pro-Am with Jaden Conwright’s WorldSpeed Lamborghini rounding out the top-five.

Race 1 Am-class pole honors went the way of Graham Doyle, with One Motorsports’ Nick Groat comfortably taking the LB Cup pole in Q1.

Sam Shi’s solo-drive Am-class TR3 machine brought out the red flag and a premature end to running in Q1 when he spun at Turn 17 just after the No. 28 Lamborghini of Luke Berkeley went for a spin and continued at Turn 7.

The second 15-minute qualifying session also saw the No. 1 WTR Lamborghini on top, with Ericsson outpacing fellow Pro class WTR driver Nick Persing by 0.177 seconds with his 2:01.771 second benchmark.

Elias De La Torre went third fastest overall in his No.29 TR3 entry, less than half a second off Ericsson’s pace.

The Pro-Am Q2 pole position was claimed by RAFA Racing’s Kiko Porto, who was fourth-quickest, ahead of fellow Pro-Am competitor, Brendon Leitch, who rounded out the top-five.

Jackson Lee claimed the Am-class pole for Race 2 for Forty7 Motorsports, with stablemate Mark Brummond going quickest in LB Cup.

Q2 also ended early after a red flag was brought out when Slade Stewart found the Turn 5 tire barrier roughly halfway into the session, which resulted in the loss of the Flying Lizard driver’s fastest two laps for causing the stoppage.

Kevin Madsen and Stephen Sorbaro had also made off-track excursions just prior to Stewart’s accident.

The first race of the Super Trofeo North America season goes green at 5:55 p.m. EST with live streaming coverage on IMSA.tv and Peacock.
