Miley Cyrus has debuted a new ballad, ‘More To Lose’, live – check out footage of the performance below.

The singer is due to release her ninth album ‘Something Beautiful’ on May 30 via Columbia, and has already revealed its striking cover art. Cyrus serves as executive producer on the LP, alongside Shawn Everett (Kacey MusgravesAlabama Shakes).

On Saturday (May 3), Cyrus performed a private intimate show that comprised of select fans in attendance, as well as her own friends and loved ones. During the performance, she performed an unreleased track, ‘More To Lose’, off her upcoming album.

Before diving into the song, she said: “I have a lot of people that I’ve known and loved for a very long time in this room. Even a couple of exes.” During the first verse of the performance, she quipped: “It’s like an instant classic.”

Oh, I’ll stay when the ecstasy is far away / And I pray that it’s comin’ ’round again,” she sings on the piano ballad. “And you say it, ‘I wish it wasn’t true, oh’ / I knew someday, the one would have to choose / I thought we had more to lose.”

‘More To Lose’ has been teased by Miley Cyrus in recent days and appears to be the final single she’ll release ahead of ‘Something Beautiful’. “Sharing this song from the same place it was created… at the piano. ‘More To Lose’. Coming soon,” she wrote on X on Friday.

‘Something Beautiful’ has so far been previewed by three singles: ‘Prelude’, ‘Something Beautiful’, and most recently ‘End of the World’.

Following on from 2023’s ‘Endless Summer Vacation’, the star’s upcoming new album will also be accompanied by a “visual” film version – directed by Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter. This is set to arrive in cinemas in June.

She previously suggested that the album would be inspired by Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’. “We really leaned in. And so I have this heart-first attachment to it. My idea was making ‘The Wall’, but with a better wardrobe and more glamorous and filled with pop culture,” Miley Cyrus said.

In a four-star review of ‘Endless Summer Vacation’NME wrote: “It all adds up to an album that holds your full attention even if it isn’t Cyrus’s boldest or most visionary. ‘Endless Summer Vacation’ certainly feels like an accurate reflection of who she is as an artist – and a person – in 2023.”
