Vincenzo Sospiri Racing has revealed the trio of factory drivers that will pilot its Pro entry in GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup, which is part of a two-car effort for the Italian squad.
The Italian squad, led by former Toyota GT1 racer Vincenzo Sospiri, will return to Endurance Cup competition after a one-year absence, entering two cars to effectively occupy the spot left by Iron Lynx.
Its efforts will be spearheaded by the No. 163 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, which is entered into the Pro category.
Confirmed by the team on Wednesday, the car will be piloted by Lamborghini factory drivers Marco Mapelli, Sandy Mitchell and Franck Perera.
Mapelli and Perera move over from GRT Grasser Racing Team after a season in which they won the three-hour round at the Nürburgring and Perera captured pole position for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa with a new lap record.
Mitchell, for his part, will be reunited with the two drivers for the first time since their full season campaign with K-PAX Racing in 2023. The Scot raced with Barwell Motorsport in Bronze Cup last year.
The 25-year-old will remain involved with Barwell through a Pro entry in Sprint Cup.
The Silver Cup-entered No. 60 Lamborghini, meanwhile, will be piloted by former DTM driver Alessio Deledda, Michele Beretta and Finlay Hutchison.
“The GT World Challenge Endurance Cup is one of the toughest GT Championships in the world,” said Sospiri.
“I’m proud to have two cars on the grid in this very competitive series and look forward to my team and drivers taking on the challenge of racing against the very best.
“As always a huge thank you to Lamborghini Squadra Corse for their support.”
