Van der Steur Racing will switch from GT America powered by AWS to Pirelli GT4 America beginning with next weekend’s round at Sebring International Raceway.
The Maryland-based team, which had fielded an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo for Max Hewitt in the single-driver sprint series, will add Luca Mars to its lineup for the move into GT4 America competition.
Mars, who contested GT World Challenge America powered by AWS last year in a Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo22, will make his second start with van der Steur, having previously contested a one-off IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR race with the team in 2023.
“We wanted to thank everyone for the efforts to kickstart this year in GT America, but we are looking forward to this next chapter and putting a strong effort into GT4 America,” said team manager Chris Deely.
“We’re excited to continue our momentum with Max, who’s proven himself early in the season, and we’re thrilled to welcome Luca back to VDSR.”
Hewitt moves into GT4 America on the heels of his second class win of the season in Race 2 of the weekend at Circuit of The Americas last month and is currently tied with Anthony McIntosh for the lead of the GT4 class championship.
