United Autosports and McLaren have unveiled a special, one-off livery to be used at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the aim of raising awareness for the fight against meningitis.
The No. 59 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, which will be driven by James Cottingham, Sebastien Baud and Gregoire Saucy, has seen shades of yellow, purple and blue added to the team’s trademark black and papaya orange.
The additional colors represent the ‘Meningitis Flag,’ which was co-created by French healthcare and pharmaceuticals company Sanofi, the Meningitis Research Foundation charity as well as para-athletes who have been affected by the disease, with the aim of raising awareness.
The Le Mans tie-up forms part of an existing partnership between Sanofi and McLaren Racing, which started in 2022.
“Le Mans is the ultimate race against time — just like our fight against meningitis,” said Thomas Triomphe,Executive Vice President for vaccines at Sanofi.
“At Sanofi, we believe science is our engine, partnerships our fuel, and awareness our finish line.
“By bringing the Meningitis Flag to the world stage, we’re not just backing a car — we’re supporting a movement. Because when every second counts, we choose to race for lives.”
In addition to the car, the Meningitis Flag colors are also set to be displayed on the overalls that Cottingham, Baud and Saucy will wear during the 93rd edition of the French endurance classic.
“We’re proud to be working closely with our Official Partner Sanofi to support this exciting campaign 30 years since McLaren’s historic victory in 1995,” said Louise McEwen, McLaren Racing’s Chief Marketing Officer.
“I can’t wait to see the No. 59 car out on the iconic Le Mans track in support of this great cause.”
