Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs are coming back — the new Miami Vice project just took a major step forward. Collider can confirm that Universal Pictures has tapped Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) to direct a new Miami Vice feature film, with Dan Gilroy (Andor, Nightcrawler) writing the script. Casting for the project has not yet begun, but Kosinski will produce along with Dylan Clark. This comes not long before Kosinski will venture to the world of high-octane sports racing for his next movie, F1. The racing film stars Oscar-winners Brad Pitt and Javier Bardem, and it’s set for release on June 23. This new Miami Vice project is expected to follow Kosinski’s work on F1, but there’s currently no release date attached and no planned date for production to start.
