Perodua continues to lead other brands in terms of vehicle registrations for the month of April 2025. Data from the road transport department (JPJ) revealed the local carmaker sold 27,371 units last month, which brings its year-to-date (YTD) total for the first four months of this year to 112,462 units.
Coming in behind Perodua is Proton, which managed 12,155 units last month to hit a YTD total of 46,283 units. It is joined on the podium by Toyota in third (10,066 units in April, 36,241 YTD) as well as Honda in fourth (4,439 units in April, 24,911 YTD).
Jaecoo continues to be a presence in the upper portion of the top 20 list by maintaining its fifth position with 1,545 units in April and a YTD total of 5,798 units. Outside the top five, BYD, which only sells electric vehicles (EVs), managed another month of four-digit vehicle registrations. Its 1,048 units is good for sixth in April 2025, bringing its YTD total to 3,207 units.
Completing the top 10 are Mitsubishi (1,000 units, 4,725 YTD) in seventh, Chery (740 units, 3,313 units), Mercedes-Benz (684 units, 2,905 YTD) and Mazda (682 units, 2,871 YTD), all of which saw vehicle registrations drop from what was recorded for the month of March 2025.
In 11th place is Nissan (634 units, 2,390 YTD), while Lexus in 12th saw an increase to 619 units – its highest in a single month this year – for a YTD total of 1,671 units. Following this is BMW (556 units, 2,418 YTD) in 13th, Isuzu (465 units, 2,039 YTD) in 14th and GWM (372 units, 1,430 YTD) in 15th.
The bottom five in April 2025 is occupied by Ford (359 units, 1,584 YTD) in 16th, MG (255 units, 839 YTD) in 17th and Hyundai (186 units, 415 YTD) in 18th. Porsche in 19th saw 171 units registered (894 YTD), although this figure includes recon units that are counted by JPJ (this also applies to other popular recon models by other brands), while Denza rounds things off with 157 units (395 YTD).
