He’s continually shown stamina is a great attribute while climbing the ranks now, going from a rating of 104 to 140 today. Vanillier’s in the form of his life at ten-years-old winning here in February for just his second chase success. Placed 14th of 34 in the Grand National less than a month ago so does need to be considered. But there’s always that risk with Grand National runners going out next time and struggling so soon after as that Aintree race can really take it out of them. So he’s best watched at this price given the quick return after not only the Aintree contest but also at Cheltenham. Teahupoo Won this last year by over six lengths against ten rivals. Hiddenvalley Lake should be his main rival today but I can’t see him getting beat in this race given the way he won this last year. Aintree’s Liverpool Hurdle winner took a big step forward winning well making it four victories from nine runs. But even that was a surprise for trainer Henry De Bromhead. Teahupoo is now without a win in two but returns to a favoured track and favoured conditions over what was only good to soft at Cheltenham.
