‘The Accountant 2’ Has Grossed Four Times as Much as Ben Affleck’s Mega-Budget Historical Bomb in Just 10 Days
The Accountant 2 has more than quadrupled the box office haul of Ben Affleck’s The Last Duel after just 10 days in theaters.
Last year, Amazon MGM unveiled the mega-budget Christmas-themed film Red One in theaters, attracting negative press for the film’s perceived underperformance at the box office. It was argued, however, that the film’s theatrical run was essentially a publicity tool for its eventual release on Prime Video; similar arguments have been made in defense of the numerous box office misfires produced by Apple Studios. They can also be made in defense of Amazon MGM’s latest offering, The Accountant 2. Directed by Gavin O’Connor, the movie serves as a sequel to his 2016 hit The Accountant, starring Ben Affleck in the titular role.
