Team RJN has revealed its drivers for its full season GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup comeback, with former series champion Alex Buncombe returning to spearhead the Gold Cup entry.

Buncombe, an RJN stalwart, will share the No. 23 McLaren 720S GT3 Evo with Reece Barr and Tommy Foster for what will be the team’s first full Endurance Cup campaign since 2019.

The British squad was a regular fixture in the championship between 2011 and 2019, most notably winning the drivers’ title in 2015 running Nissan machinery for Buncombe, Wolfgang Reip and Katsumasa Chiyo.

It switched brands to Honda in 2019 and was then set to contest the 2020 season with McLaren before opting for a revised, national program amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

RJN made a one-off GTWC Europe return at last year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, taking a Pro-Am podium finish with a single McLaren driven by Alex and Chris Buncombe, Josh Caygill and Jann Mardenborough.

While Buncombe, who is also a former Bentley factory driver, has regularly competed with RJN in the past, his two co-drivers are both new to the team.

Barr made his GTWC debut last year, driving for Winward Racing in Sprint Cup. Foster, for his part, moves into GT3 competition after several years of racing LMP3 machinery in Michelin Le Mans Cup.

“I am delighted to welcome Reece and Tommy,” said team boss Bob Neville.

“They are both very quick and will also benefit from driving alongside Alex who has a massive amount of experience. I know McLaren will be watching their progress with interest.”
