talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Sunday 9 March
There are three cracking Premier League ties on Sunday, including a renewal of old rivalries between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford. Elsewhere, Celtic host Hibernian in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals and we have three selections which make up our best bets for Sunday. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS ON TALKSPORT BET Best football bets for Sunday Bet of the Day – Arsenal to beat Manchester United @ 7/10 Manchester United battled to a 1-1 draw at Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night, but that was a tough contest and the Red Devils may struggle to go again just three days later against a top-level Arsenal outfit. United have won only two of their last seven matches, a run which includes an Old Trafford FA Cup penalty shootout defeat to Fulham and a loss to struggling Tottenham. The only games Ruben Amorim’s men have won in that sequence came via narrow one-goal margins against Leicester and Ipswich on home soil, so it is difficult to see how Arsenal don’t make their superiority count in Manchester. Of course, the Gunners have issues in attack with injuries to forwards Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, but that didn’t stop the north London outfit hammering PSV 7-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night. United did get the better of Arsenal in the third-round of the FA Cup, but that match can be used to gauge the gulf in class between the two teams. The Gunners won the shot count 26-7, the corner count 12-2, had 70 per cent possession and the expected goals numbers finished 3.14 to 0.27 in favour of Mikel Arteta’s men. If those metrics come even close to being matched on Sunday then, at 7/10, the north Londoners rate a fantastic bet to leave Old Trafford with three points. Longshot of the Day – Hibernian to beat Celtic @ 8/1 It’s clearly a huge ask for Hibernian to win at Parkhead in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, but it may not be quite as difficult as the prices suggest. Celtic have won only three of their last six matches, and while two of those games came against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, there was a key fixture against Hibs mixed in. The Hoops were beaten 2-1 at Easter Road last month and David Gray’s men were good value for the success. A trip to Glasgow will demand more of the capital side, but Hibs are unbeaten in their last 15 games and they have the confidence and belief to be dangerous opponents in a one-off cup tie. Special of the Day – Bournemouth to win to nil @ 11/2 Tottenham slumped to another defeat at AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night and the 1-0 loss offered little encouragement. Spurs have had their fair share of defensive issues this term, but the attacking verve, which is also associated with Ange Postecoglou’s side, has been missing in recent matches. Tottenham failed to score against AZ, they offered little in attack when blanking against Manchester City and Liverpool, and even the 1-0 success over Manchester United, was a pretty poor forward performance. Bournemouth can win in north London and they can do so without conceding.
