talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Sunday 20 April
The holiday weekend continues with some top-quality action on Sunday including four Premier League games featuring Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, while Celtic are bidding to reach the Scottish Cup final and there are top-flight games in all the major European leagues. We have a tip for Premier League leaders Liverpool’s trip to Leicester and a key match in the Serie A relegation battle among our three favourite bets of the day. GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET Bet of the Day – Venezia to beat Empoli @ 12/5 Serie A leaders Inter Milan visit fifth-placed Bologna on Sunday, but the most intriguing fixture in the division is the crucial contest in the relegation battle between Empoli and Venezia. With six matches left both teams are in the bottom three with identical points totals of 24 from 32 games, with visitors Venezia in 18th place and hosts Empoli 19th. Both sides are just two points behind Lecce in 17th. Parma (28 points) and Cagliari (30) are just about in range too, but the winners of this match would give themselves a huge advantage in the battle to stay up. Venezia are yet to win on the road in the league this season, but they have been on a solid run and look a value bet to overcome their fellow strugglers. The visitors were winning for the first time in 15 matches when they beat rock-bottom Monza last time out, but, having drawn five of their previous six games, they have lost only once since mid-February. Venezia have drawn at third-placed Atalanta, Como and Lecce in their last three away games and may be up to grabbing their first away win at Empoli. Empoli have won just one of their 15 home league games this season, scoring a pitiful five goals, and that success was way back in early November. They are on a 19-match winless run and rate poor-value favourites to beat any Serie A team, even fellow strugglers Venezia. Special of the Day – Liverpool to beat Leicester and over 3.5 goals @ 13/10 Liverpool are closing in on their second Premier League title in five seasons and should have no problems collecting another three points against struggling Leicester. The Foxes had lost nine straight games, eight of them without scoring, before picking up a point from a 2-2 away draw at Brighton last week and they should be outclassed by Arne Slot’s side. The Reds could use a confidence-booster after recent losses in more difficult fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle and Fulham, but they made no mistake against lesser opposition when meeting bottom-half opposition in the form of Everton and West Ham. With Southampton and Ipswich still to come in their final six fixtures, Liverpool should be able to boost their points and goal tallies in the final weeks of the season, starting with a wide-margin win over Leicester, who have conceded 10 goals while losing their last three home matches to Brentford, Manchester United and Newcastle. Long Shot of the Day – Wolves to beat Manchester United @ 27/10 Wolves have had some tough times this season, but they are finishing the campaign with a head of steam and look overpriced to score a fifth successive Premier League victory when they take on Manchester United at Old Trafford. A maximum 12 points from their last four matches against Southampton, West Ham, Ipswich and Tottenham have taken Wolves to the brink of safety after spending much of the first half of the season in the bottom three and they may not be finished yet. Wolves beat United 2-0 in these two teams’ first league meeting this season on Boxing Day and, while that result was aided by the red card picked up by Bruno Fernandes shortly after half-time, Vitor Pereira’s team will fancy their chances of completing a double. United are only two places and three points above Wolves in the table after picking up just one point from their last three games and, while their goalless draw with Manchester City in their last home Premier League game was commendable, the same cannot be said of their 4-1 hammering at Newcastle last Sunday.
