talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Sunday 16 March
Saturday’s football card looks strong, but Sunday’s is off the scale with huge games all over Europe. Atalanta take on Inter Milan, PSG play Marseille, Atletico Madrid clash with Barcelona, there’s an Old Firm derby, a Steel City derby and the first English domestic trophy to be handed out at Wembley when Liverpool play Newcastle in the EFL Cup final. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET Sunday football betting tips Bet of the day Roma to score first and Roma to win – 7/10 There’s no sentiment in football as Roma boss Claudio Ranieri aims to demonstrate on Sunday. Cagliari loves Ranieri, the man who won the Sardinians promotion two years ago and kept them up. But the veteran is now earning a crust at Roma and impressing once more, with the Wolves on a six-game winning streak in Serie A. They are unbeaten in the league since before Christmas. Ranieri’s job, especially after Thursday night’s Europa League exit to Athletic Bilbao, is to remain in the top-six hunt and if that means pushing Cagliari towards the trap-door, so be it. Cagliari are without a win in four and their six wins this term have all been against bottom-half outfits, which Roma very definitely are not. The islanders lost left-winger Florinel Coman and right-back Gabriele Zappa to injury this week, so are short-handed for a match where Roma are 8/15. Far more preferable is the 7/10 Roma score first and go on to win because it’s hard to see Cagliari troubling them. Special of the day Bet Builder: Arsenal to win/D Rice 1+ Shots on Target/30+ Tackles – 16/5 There are two Premier League derbies in London on Sunday, Fulham versus Spurs and Arsenal taking on Chelsea. Arsenal have an excellent recent record against Chelsea, especially at The Emirates, and the home win can be the bedrock of a Bet Builder which works out at around 16/5. Leg two is Declan Rice to have at least one shot on target. The Gunners need offensive contributions from deeper in the absence of a fit No.9 and England ace Rice is doing his job. He has scored twice this week, in the draws against Manchester United and PSV, and can at least sting Robert Sanchez’s fingers. The draw between these rivals earlier in the season was in a game which produced 32 tackles. Expect it to be feisty and the pair of them to land at least 30 tackles. Long shot of the day Antony first scorer – 8/1 In six weeks in Seville Manchester United discard Antony has certainly made his mark. Four goals for Real Betis, man-of-the-match performances and a red card, the Brazilian flier just loves being in the headlines. There is no doubt that Antony has flourished since moving to Betis and he has improved them, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side up to sixth in La Liga and into the Conference League quarters. It is a quick turnaround this weekend as they head to Leganes three days after winning 4-0 at Portuguese side Vitoria in Europe, but they are full of confidence. And no one is more confident than Antony, who is averaging two shots a game for his new side and is well worth chancing at a nice price to open the scoring at the Butarque.
