Longshot of the Day – Southampton to beat Aston Villa – 9/2 Southampton are heading for the Championship, while Aston Villa are looking for Champions League glory, but the Saints look a value play on Saturday. Clearly, Villa are a far superior side to the south coast outfit, but Unai Emery’s men may struggle to go again after a tough Champions League defeat against PSG on Wednesday night. Villa gave up 75 per-cent possession, 29 shots and nine corners against the Parisians, and while Southampton are unlikely to be putting up those sort of numbers, Emery’s men may well be a little jaded after that gruelling contest. There is no getting away from the fact that Southampton are a poor side, but perhaps the Saints shouldn’t be 9/2 in this spot. Special of the Day – Over 3.5 goals in Manchester City v Crystal Palace – 11/8 Crystal Palace have proved thorny opponents for Manchester City in recent seasons and the Eagles have lost only three of their last seven games against Pep Guardiola’s men. The recent history of the two teams also indicates that there will be plenty of goals on Saturday. There have been 21 strikes in the last five meetings between the teams and Oliver Glasner’s men have found the net 14 times in their previous six games. City aren’t at the level we have seen in previous campaigns, but there is still bags of talent in the Citizens’ squad and a high-scoring contest is anticipated at the Etihad.
