Swedish hardcore/powerviolence band Xiao announce debut LP ‘Control,’ share title track
Following two EPs, Xiao will release their debut album ‘Control’ on Twelve Gauge Records this May.

Swedish hardcore/powerviolence band Xiao have been making some noise these past few years across two EPs, 2021’s Pain and 2023’s Burn, and now they’ve announced their debut album, Control, due May 2 via Twelve Gauge Records (pre-order). It features the two songs from their 2024 promo (“Legends” and “End of Times”), as well as the just-released title track, and all three songs are fired-up rippers that really get taken to the next level by the piercing shrieks of vocalist Liv Astrid.
Speaking to No Echo in 2022, the band said they’re “mostly inspired by early to mid-’00s bands like Mind Eraser, Coke Bust, Hatred Surge, and then some random stuff like Dismember, Minor Threat, and Converge,” and regarding the band’s subject matter, they added, “Xiao has always been about radical politics, whether about body, sexuality, society as a whole, or toxic masculinity.”
